Vela Wines is looking for a Vineyard Associate – Irrigation specialist to work in our vineyard in Central Otago, New Zealand. Major responsibilities of the role will be to put in place, execute and look after an appropriate irrigation program and participate to various vineyard duties in accordance with seasonal requirements including:
• Characterize the soil profiles in the various vineyard blocks (use of EM38, resistivity, mapping,..)
• Set up an irrigation schedule accordingly
• Follow the soils water withholding capacities (AWR) and vines stress (sap flow, pressure bomb)
• Do all the irrigation checks and maintenance
• Pruning
• Shoot Thinning
• Wire Lifting
• Trimming Foliage
• Setting up, maintaining and removing nets
• Harvesting and leading harvest crew if necessary
• Performing irrigation checks
• General agriculture duties...
Vela Wines is looking for a Vineyard Associate – Seasonal Staff Supervisor to work in our vineyard in Central Otago, New Zealand. Major responsibilities of the role will be to look after the seasonal vineyard crew who will be performing various vineyard duties such as:
• Pruning
• Bud Rubbing
• Shoot Thinning
• Wire Lifting
• Trimming Foliage
• Leaf Plucking
• Crop Thinning
• Setting up, maintaining and removing nets
• Sampling
• Harvesting and leading harvest crew if necessary
• Performing irrigation checks
• Maintaining trellis
• Monitoring property for diseases
• Other general property maintenance activities as required
• Safe and careful operation of the vineyard material
• Any other reasonable duties
• General agriculture duties
The applicant must have experience in performing all these duties, both in New-Zealand and overseas and must be able to look after and supervise the seasonal staff....
